Check out the HIGHLIGHT of our September show!
Japanese Denim—World Class Techniques for a Global View
DENIM ZONE was formed at the request of top buyers from overseas, who expressed their desire to see Japanese denim. The previous show in April saw a gathering of well-known denim brands, transforming the venue into a place where you could sense the high level of techniques and potential ability of Japan’s impressive denim.
Following on from this, September’s show will see the DENIM ZONE reborn as “DENIM LOOK,” which in addition to aiming for an even greater step forward and expansion through jeans, will exhibit a collection of items including accessories, lifestyle products, and art, all relating to or involving denim. There will also be a lounge in that area, fitted out with denim furniture to offer visitors a lifestyle totally centered around denim.
Introducing the Tokyo Fashions & Lifestyles to the world
PINKY TOKYO is an exhibition area directed by Japan’s leading stylist, Miki Aizawa. At the previous show in April, PINKY TOKYO gained close attention from top retailers around the world, including Merci in Paris, with products visitors could buy at the venue and take home selling out one after another. For September’s show, the brand hopes to build up a “NIPPON, TOKYO brand that can be confidently communicated overseas.” Furthermore, Toshinori Yoneta, a designer for apparel brands “dress and tights” and “ATENOY” who also designs cafes in Tokyo, will open PINKY TOKYO CAFE in the lounge for a limited time. The interior will be directed by te-n, a flower shop in Kagurazaka, creating a space where both lifestyle, and colorful, endearing fashion, intertwine.
With Potent Awareness, Craftsmanship Creates Sustainability
There has been a great surge in tackling environmental issues, labor issues, and other issues in realizing a sustainable society, with brands that carry out ethical sourcing and preach sustainability increasing on a worldwide scale. Following this trend, CONSCIOUS AREA will make its first appearance at the September show, with the theme “RE IMAGINE, BE EVER GREEN.” Japan has seen the word “ethical” taken at face value, with tendencies to neglect fashionability. Even if “ethical” is not mentioned as a concept, in reality, there are many brands that create products with strong feelings towards the word. By flipping the existing image on its head, fashion will bring out and expand consumer awareness, something which will lead to societal contribution. The CONSCIOUS AREA will be an exhibition area where the role of this kind of fashion stands out. With open space much like an art gallery or a museum, different to that of a traditional apparel exhibition; please take the time to slowly take in the story of the brands and their strong sets of values.
Our first ever kids' area, with items grown-ups will love too
Presenting the first-ever KIDS’ AREA, featuring baby, kids, and toddler apparel and accessories! With adorable domestic and international children’s clothes from children’s specialty shops as well as an assortment of products from lifestyle and adult apparel shops as well, the products here are bound to make this area especially appealing.
Now is the time to connect Fashion and Art!
ART in MAGIC, a new zone that has an art focus, will launch at the September show. The preview exhibit at the April show received rave reviews from visitors, and the artists and galleries that participated in that exhibit were delighted. Fashion and art have always been strongly linked, but that connection has become even stronger in recent years, as retail stores put more and more effort into offering lifestyle proposals that incorporate art. At the September show, the ART in MAGIC exhibit will bring together not only paintings but sculptural works as well, and will also feature installations, including live art performances. There will also be a creative lounge space where visitors can experience the connections between fashion and art.
